About
I was first drawn to yoga in my late teens. I started classes and loved it for it’s physical challenge and calming benefits. Over the years, whatever else I did for fitness, fun and wellbeing, I always came back to yoga. I enjoyed Iyenger yoga for many years and then moved more towards Hatha/Vinyasa with some fantastic teachers along the way.
Work wise I became as a Primary School teacher. During this time I lead on the development of the Creative Curriculum and on school wellbeing. I also had a big passion for drama and ran a drama club for many years. I got an opportunity to do some yoga and relaxation with the children. I saw how much the children enjoyed and benefitted from it. I decided I wanted to take this further and trained in Relax Kids and Massage in Schools.
Around this time I also started to practice Mindfulness, initially to help me through a very stressful time, but I got so much from it in terms of personal wellbeing and personal development that I spent a couple of years studying and developing my practice with the Mindfulness Association.
I started training to be a Mindfulness teacher but then had a lightbulb moment when I realised that what I really needed to do, where my passion and skillset lay, was in using movement and creativity together with meditation and relaxation to enhance my own and other’s wellbeing. I also realised that I wanted to work with both adults and children. So I trained in adult and children’s yoga to complete the circle.
I left my job and for a few years combined my wellbeing work with working as a teaching union caseworker. I had a real calling to support school staff in these challenging time in education. This work gave me a unique insight into the importance of wellbeing for employees. I am passionate about working with staff and management to enhance wellbeing in the workplace.
There came a point where I needed to leave this work and give my full attention to my wellbeing business, as this is where I need to be, and where I feel I can make the most difference to the people I work with.
My classes and workshops are practical, fun and calming, and at the same time mindful, educational and thought provoking. I want to give people the opportunity to step away from their busy lives to see what’s really important, and help them on their journey to a calmer life.
